Dan Mihaltianu, former Adjunct Professor at Bergen National Academy of the Arts, Subject Area Photography, launched his book “Divided Files” in March 2008. The book is accompanied by a DVD and is a result of his research and development work. The book has three thematic aksis: Divided Worlds / Divided Cultures / Divided Personalities, Bucuresti / Berlin / Bergen and Production / Consumption / Alienation.

Divided Worlds / Divided Cultures / Divided Personalities Visual research based on multiple and parallel versions of reality, focusing on issues seen from different points of view: personal and official, individual and collective, masculine and feminine, sacred and profane and other perspectives.

As an open project the areas of interest are continuously widening, the present publication includes visual material (photography, video) and texts produced from the early 80s to the present, organized in two major themes:

Bucuresti / Berlin / Bergen - three different cultures: Romanian, German and Norwegian - a personal approach looking at architectural, cultural and social developments.

Production / Consumption / Alienation - factors defining the dynamic of development in both the material and spiritual components of contemporary societies: Production, consumption and alienation in the cultural sphere; Cola-Culture, from Cola-Colonisation to the War on Cola; Post-industrial cities, alienated spaces - alienated artists.
